I Have Too Many Books

  • Dec. 29th, 2007 at 2:13 PM

Well, maybe not too many, but a lot. More importantly, I know some books I won't re-read, so why keep them? But what to do with them? It really hurts me to throw away a book.

Hardcover and trade paperback books are easy. I have several libraries that are looking for books, and so I can give them away and take the tax write-off. But mass-market stuff? Libraries aren't fond of those books.

Then I discovered www.bookcrossing.com. Basically, it's a way to track books you "release" in various public places. As it happens, I have an ideal public place - the Guest House at Argonne National Labs - to put books. So I've released a few books.

One has finally been found - Jim Hines' Goblin Quest. I guess this Book Crossing thing kinda works.
