Hugo Ballot Recommendations

By popular request (well, pyropyga asked), here are my votes for the 2009 Hugo ballot. If I don't mention a category, that means I didn't vote for anything in the category.

Slow Train to Arcturus, David Freer and Eric Flint. A series of automatic habitats traveling through space at slower-then-light speeds encounter aliens. A group of aliens and humans travel through the various habitats, attempting to link up.
Sly Mongoose, Tobias Buckell. Space zombies on a city floating in the atmosphere of a Venus-like world, with bonus! zeppelins.
Saturns' Children, Charles Strauss. After humans are extinct, our robot descendants are running the solar system.

The Political Prisoner Charles Findlay Coleman (Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction). Just like it sounds, the story of a political prisoner.
The Smartest Mob David Brin (Baen's Universe). Flash mobs with high-speed Internet stop a terrorist attack.

Pump Six Paolo Bacigalupi (Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction).

Short Story

Evil Robot Monkey Mary Robinette Kowal. A Monkey that's been artificially enhanced to be too smart for other monkeys but not smart enough for humans. (Listen to it here.)
Manumission Tobias Buckell (Baen's Universe). A short story set in the world of his three books.
After the Coup John Scalzi (Tor.com).

Dramatic Presentation (Long Form)

Razor (Battlestar Galactica TV movie)
Wall-E (Pixar).

Dramatic Presentation (Short Form)

"The Hand of God" and "Automatic for the People" (Sarah Connor Chronicles). There really needs to be a category for "best series."
"Revelations" (Battlestar Galactica)

Best Editor (Short Form)

Eric T. Reynolds (Hadley Rille Books or ericreynolds). The 2008 work which makes him eligible (in my view) is Return to Luna.

Best Fan Writer
Steven H. Silver (shsilver) who is also eligible for the John Campbell award.

John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer
J. Kathleen Cheney (j_cheney)

WOW! Thanks!!!

They can actually nominate five people, I think (I can't, because I'm not going) so there's plenty of room.

But I really apprecaite the nod ;o)

I admit, I felt a bit lame nominating a T:SCC episode from the first season simply because I haven't gotten to the second yet. I will keep catching up on S2 on the top of the priority list.
