Extra-Special Addition of Link Salad!

There's just a ton of stuff to discuss and link about today, so let's get right on it.

First, from Making Light, Teresa Nielsen Hayden provides a lengthy deconstruction of the death of two people in a New Age sweat lodge. Not surprisingly, the guy leading the ceremony is a huckster, and so full of bullshit that it's coming out his ears in a steady stream. Unfortunately for the two dead people, he managed to monetize that flow, selling seminars at ten grand each.

Here are two interesting links from jaylake:

First, a not-entirely-tongue-in-cheek New York publisher's book marketing plan.

Second, as you may be aware, Saturn's moon Titan has a huge lake of liquid methane. Well, somebody wants to take a boat trip on it. How cool would that be?

Lastly, there aren't many people from my Navy days that I am still in contact with. Well, one of them, John Lowrie, a Denver lawyer, apparently re-upped (See edit), and emailed me pictures from his recent deployment to Afghanistan.

ETA John did not re-up, he took a leave of absence from his law firm to join with Afghanistan Justice Sector Support Program, ran by the State Department.
